I mostly read books that make me sad, and I think this may be because I read a lot of books which may be said to be “true to life” and I guess reality is sad and heartbreaking most of the time. Maybe? I don’t know. They are all thought-provoking though and they have made me who I am today.
One book that really made me sad was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. It tells the story of two women living in Afghanistan during the reign of the Taliban and it illustrates the mis-treatment of women which continues to this day. It’s stark, honest reality and it’s really heart-rending. It is one of my favourite books but I cannot bear to reread it. Rather, I have not dared to as yet because I was curled up sobbing the first time I read it.
In other news,I am returning to college tomorrow and I will be posting from college from tomorrow. A fascinating snippet about my life which makes no difference to anyone whatsoever! Yay!
